STRIKE

Hello guys, hope you're all good. Tonight I'm showing you this killer bowling shirt I actually picked up on Asos last week (which is now stocking Topman by the way). I wouldn't normally go for something like this because of the colour, but since the weather has been remarkably different here I thought why not do the same and change up that classic colour palette of mine!

Without further ado, here's me in a light shade of pink - yeah you read right, pink! To be honest, I quite like rocking this new colour and after all, you don't get weather like we've had over the past week very often, especially in Manchester! This bowling shirt with a Cuban collar is the perfect remedy I needed for that hot, sticky weather we all had last week.

Since it was that warm I didn't even shoot with my trusty hat on, the hair as you can see was swept back. I also wore the shirt open with a black tee. I paired it with my purple lens glasses and decided on rolling the contrasting black sleeves of the shirt up a few inch's which I think made for the perfect summer outfit. I loved this shirt a lot more than I first anticipated, the colour of it made me slightly weary but now I think this bold colour actually makes the shirt, as it frames the placket and collar line against the lighter shade of pink.

I went for the shirt in my usual small sizes and it fits like a dream, its the perfect length for a bowling shirt plus has that added detail of a sharp Cuban style collar. As I mentioned across on my YouTube channel, I decided to play the necklaces down in this particular outfit, just going for one statement piece which I think works when the shirt is worn open with a simple black tee.

Rock N' Roll,

FOR GOOD TIMES

Hey guys, after a few weeks off from the blogging game, I'm back tonight with this sweet shirt. I've just recently returned from Spain, so during my travels, I took the opportunity to shoot this killer summer shirt! I think everyone needs this piece in their wardrobe this season. I shot this look last week whilst exploring the streets of Barcelona. I loved this city, I really tried to experience everything the city had to offer - which consisted of Patatas Bravas, Patatas Bravas and more Patatas Bravas!

The shirt is made by a brand called Mr Wood - a London-based clothing brand, who's highly decorative and statement motif shirt range, make for the perfect holiday statement! Their shirt collection has been inspired by the best motifs around. They stock a range of cool shirts in a variety of prints to suit every taste. Each shirt is limited edition with only 63 being made - they sure do make the ultimate statement.

The story behind the brand is something I found very relatable. I'm going to give it my best to describe how it all started for them. Mr Wood had a favourite shirt he held close to his heart, a vintage late 70's piece with a beautifully designed motif - a shirt in which you simply didn't just come across everyday. This favourite piece of his was worn all of the time, through the good and the bad until the shirt began to show signs of wear, fading and ripping at the seams. I understand how it feels to become emotionally connected to a piece of clothing, Mr Wood simply couldn't let go of all of those years, so he cut out the last surviving square panel of the shirt's fabric and still uses it as a handkerchief to this day. I found this story totally relatable - knowing full well how much one item can mean so much!

I loved so many of the motif's online, but decided to go with this one. It's like a Mexican Day Of The Dead Skull, with some of the sculls even knocking back a beer, they couldn't be more like me! The shirts colour and pattern is very cool, I've not seen a cooler skull pattern shirt this season! The yellow and red colour palette used on the shirt is something I'd not normally go for, but when you're on holiday, the bolder the better right? I think this shirt is such a cool statement to wear - especially in warmer climates!

Mr Wood's shirts come in two sizes: medium and large.
I'm near enough six foot and I normally go for a small but since this size wasn't available I rooted for the medium, as I thought wearing this shirt one size bigger would give for a cool and relaxed vibe - a look which I always sport whilst abroad. The cut of the shirt allows you to easily achieve an effortless look, especially when worn open. Paired with a simple black tee, I wanted the main focus of my outfit, to be all about that killer palm tree / skeleton / Southern American vibe!

Mr Wood London is a brand born out of one man’s obsession for pattern, and his belief that everyone should own at least one statement shirt. I know I have mine for the summer and I'm certain I'll wear it for many more summers to come!

Cheers to Mr Wood for kindly giving me this shirt -

GOOD THINGS BELONG TOGETHER

Evening guys, thanks for coming back and visiting my blog. Tonight's post is a good one as it features not one, but two rock n' roll shirts! A good time to check back in for a catch up, ey! For those who have an eager eye, you may recognise one of these shirts already has already been featured on my Instagram stories a few weeks back, but the other I've worn especially for this blog post! You all seemed to love the polka dot shirt back then, so I hope you'll all enjoy this closer look.

The brand that kindly gifted me these two killer shirts is called Harvey Willy's, and is actually a based in Argentina. I'd not heard of the brand until (once again) discovering them on Instagram a few months back, but after being inspired by what they're creating on social media, I'm now a big fan! H.W is a relatively new brand on the block but has its roots in a brand born in the 60's manufacturing denim to the South American Fashion market.

Their new baby launched in 2015 and has got some serious pedigree in the industry, now focusing on producing a range of seriously cool underground Rock N' Roll clothing, trying to mix vintage music trends into the fashion of today.

As soon as I opened my delivery I could tell straight away that this brand had their attention to detail down. Everything from the packaging, to how the shirts were displayed was perfect - they even went to the trouble of pinning the shirt on the collar and hem to hold it exactly where it need to be to refrain from crumpling! I actually opened the shirts just after work before going to a gig here in Manchester, I already had my outfit on for the evening but after unpacking these beauties, the shirt I was wearing was soon forgotten as changed into the polka dot almost instantly.

Harvey Willy's have a good dose of music influence, which all good brands have in my opinion! As soon as you take a look at their Instagram you get the feel of who and what makes the brand tick. H.W also kit out a lot of bands that come to the area, keeping their finger on the pulse and mixing with worlds biggest bands and artists, such as supplying pieces for Lolapalooza!

The shirts I wore are both made from a super soft to the touch viscose and I can tell you fit great! I went for a small in both they even were kind enough to throw in a pair of their black skinny denim jeans, which I sadly didn't wear on this post and that's only because they're in the wash! They've not been off me since I got them, they're so bloody comfortable!

The other piece the brand gave me was this tiger print shirt. I've seen this pattern before, the first time being earlier this season by The Kooples and I think All Saints are stocking a tiger print motif shirt at the minute, but this is the one for me. I love the size of the print and the colours used, plus its long sleeve, it's an all rounder and I cannot wait to wear it this summer!

Other little details I've spotted since owning the shirts are the personal touches they leave around the garments, somethings I've never seen before. For example, their motto sewn into the back of their shirts - 'Good Things Belong Together' and little remarks on their washing care labels, I like that touch of personality, I feel like I'm closer to the brand and more in touch with their state of mind when I see nice touches like that, that didn't necessarily have to be there but importantly are.

This brand had totally passed me by until I found them a few months back, but I can't wait to see what they do next. Make sure to check out their awesome website, I'll definitely be back shopping there very soon, it's another brand I'm adding to my top list of finds this year!
