SPRING DENIM

Evening guys, I hope you're all enjoying that extra hour of sunshine this weekend. It finally feels like Spring is here and during these past few weeks the weather in Manchester has felt like that too! Since the sun has been shining I've been leaving the coats in my wardrobe and reaching for lighter items, especially denim jackets to wear everyday, this is why I've decided to write tonight's post.

Year in year out I always return to my white denim jacket, but this year more than ever as it seems like white denim is back! I bought this piece from The Kooples years ago, and even they have released a new one for SS19. I love wearing a white jacket as it's totally different from your classic washed blue or black style. It's more of a statement piece a change up from the norm. However, you can wear this denim like any other, as it can be worn smartly or dressed down in a casual look.

I chose to style my denim a little differently to how I'd usually wear it and took some inspiration from the brands styling theirs in their SS19 capsules. As you can see, I've gone for a similar colour white round neck underneath, this is something I wouldn't wear myself but to be honest I'm a fan and I think it makes for a super cool look.

I also decided a more simple approach with my jewellery would be the best fit in this outfit. I kept things simple with one statement necklace and a select few rings (for the keen eyes among you, yes the one on my little finger is in fact new). Bracelets were the same, two simple silver chains and of course the silver trouser chain was also added in this more minimal, laid back look.

I've talked a lot more about this look across on my YouTube (which I've forgotten to upload, it will be live tomorrow) were you can check my other favourite white denims of the season as I talk through my top three online picks. You can't beat a denim jacket for spring and summer, they're crucial to my wardrobe and can be worn in so many different ways. If you've not worn any denim except the classic blue, this season is really the time to break those boundaries!

FLAT NO.2

Well, after six months of moving in I've finally got around to showing you all my (not so new) flat. So, here it is in all it's glory! To be honest with you, its only just over the last couple of months I've managed to put my own little mark on things, as when I first moved in my room didn't really have that much personality at all.

This post has come at a good time as this week in Manchester, like pretty much the rest of the country, its been freezing cold and snowing. As you can probably imagine, freezing my arse off outside taking photographs wasn't the top of my to-do list, cue a toasty shoot inside, listening to some old vinyl in my bedroom. That's a way better option, right?!

If you can remember back to my first room post, where I was bang centre of the Northern Quarter, I've happily only moved around the corner from flat number one. I remember back in the summer, I carried all my possessions and plants around to my new flat, granted it took about sixteen trips, but after that, I was in!

I know this flat doesn't have an old, cool, exposed brick wall but nevertheless, I think it looks pretty damn cool. The vinyl player and speaker system is rightfully central in the centre of my new room. It has and will always have the prime position and was the first thing I set up when I moved in. Soon as you get some music on, you start to feel at home.

I've been to a lot of antique, second hand and charity shops recently and I can tell you now, I've found the coolest stuff around, not to mention picking it up for a bargain price. A few of my finds are on this table, including the actual table! I love spending my weekends (when I'm not shooting) looking around old shops, trying to pick a few things up for my room with my girlfriend, its gotten to be quite the tradition.

As you can probably gather, candles also play a big part in my room. I just love the light you get from a candle, the flickering, smell and of course, the wax. The newest additions to the table in-fact are my twisted gold candle sticks. I think I've picked up some killer pieces over the last few months and can't wait to find more!

Greenery is always a must in any room of mine, I have a lot of plants in my room including a simple ivy and a handful of succulents. I've always loved plants and having them in my everyday surroundings always seems to improve my mood and the look of any room.

I own a lot of sentimental items, which either tell a story, reminds me of someone in-particular or holds a special place in my heart. It's all about the little things, I love collecting those kinds of pieces. Take my vintage American flag I have over my bed, the small frames of Keith and Mick which I was given for Christmas, plus the new addition, my neon lightening bolt, I love them all. You may also be able to spy a drawing of a Chinese man wearing a hat, that in-fact is portrait drawn by Chloe herself! (its me, if the hat didn't give it away)!

Overall, I'm making my room more me with every week that passes. I love keeping those special things close to me that mean the most. Lets just hope the next time I move, I won't leave it such a long time before showing you all what's on the other side of the door.

Cheers,

JUMPIN' JACK FLASH

Evening all, welcome back after a week away from my blog. Seriously though, how is January still not over? I keep on asking myself that exact question over and over again, believe me! It has however, been a very productive month so far, especially over the last week! You may have seen my Instagram last Sunday where instead of a post, I gave you all a sneak peak of what my girlfriend and I have been working on - BOYGIRL. If you did miss it, we're currently in the process of making a photography and videography agency, setting our sights high, because why the hell not! I'll talk a lot more about it soon, but for now here's a sexy little jacket I picked up last week.

As you can imagine, working Monday - Thursday 9-5, trying to organise and plan a new venture plus blogging . . . as well trying my best to fit in the occasional pint in here and there - is quite a task, but this weekend, despite attending a wedding, I promised myself I wasn't going to miss a post. This month I've only picked up two sale items, the first piece was my Zebra Jumper I showed you all a few weeks back and the second one, you've guessed it already, is this killer blazer.

So let's get chatting, what do you all think of it? I know it's a very strong, standout piece, but I know it's going to be a total uber cool addition to my wardrobe. I remember seeing a photograph last year of a guy sporting a white fitted blazer over a leopard print shirt and since seeing that image I've been on the hunt for a similar piece myself. Finally, I have it!

Obviously the coolest part of this blazer has to be the contrasting pointed lapels, this is what makes this tailored piece bang, just look at those sharp angles! The suit jacket reminds me of a Saint Laurent design I saw back in 2015, especially when clashed with an animal print, it just looks drop dead cool.

Yes, I agree, it maybe more of a summer piece but that's the best bit about the sales, buy now, put in wardrobe, forget about, then rediscover and rock it a few months down the line. Well, that's my plan anyway! I want to wear this in a relaxed, care free, laid back way. As you can see I've paired it with a leopard print shirt here, giving it that rock and roll vibe, but on a summers night, hopefully somewhere hot, even with (do I dare say it) some white skinny jeans to match, this suit jacket will look damn cool.

The best part is, this jacket is now £20, what a bargain! I found this, again, across on Zara's website and just had to buy it there and then. I've linked the suit jacket below so you can head across yourself and check it out. I got the jacket in a 36, it's not as tight on the arms as I'd normally go for however, for £20, the style you can achieve with this blazer is definitely worth it.

Check the jacket out by clicking here.

This weeks YouTube is below, click to check it out and take a closer look at the suit jacket.
