WHAT TO WEAR ON A FIRST DATE

WHAT A QUESTION!

In this post, I'm going to give you my personal opinion on what to wear on a first date. First dates are tricky in pretty much every way, so hopefully, I'll give you some tips & tricks on how to set a good first impression too. (Saying that, my first date history is a little sketchy) but just go with it. The main thing you must remember is that you've already secured that initial first date, someone has said yes when they could have said no.

These days, your date will already have a pretty good idea of what you look like after they've inevitably scrolled back through your entire Instagram feed, or done their detective work on Facebook (don't lie, we all do it)! They'll already know your style and fingers crossed, like it!

First dates are a huge deal, there's no playing it down. I always think the hours leading up to the first date are the worst, they're always super tense and quite stressful. (Nothing a can of Stella Artois can't fix). The anticipation and nerves always play a part in my pre-first date regime, but I suppose if I didn't have them, it would be pretty pointless going on the date in the first place. Nerves are good!

Getting back to the post, what I'm trying to say is, what you wear on a first date should reflect who you are as a person, and your personality. It's a little like personal branding, it does say a lot about who you are. It’s not so much what designer you wear, or where you shop. But, what I think is most important is that your clothes fit you well. Style & size. This may seem obvious, but ill fitting clothes are a huge NO.

People always look more confident and put together, in clothes that fit them well. If you feel good in what you’re wearing, it’ll show. The more confidence you have, the more you will smile, laugh and engage with the other person. The more things you'll find in common with one another, and through that, the more dates you’ll hopefully share in the future!

New isn't always good. Wearing something brand new, and untested isn't always a good idea. Yes, it's a treat to get something new for the occasion, but if you're not 100%- don't wear it. Go for one of your classic wardrobe looks, something you know you'll look cool in, an outfit you've tried & tested before.

Planning is crucial. I always love a good plan, do not leave it to the very last minute. You don't want to find out that shirt you wanted to wear is STILL in the wash! Plan your outfit the day before and get it all ready, make sure you make it look the best it can.

I'm not going to sit here and say you must do this, you must do that. We're all different, and that's good. So if dressing smart is your thing, do that. Or maybe you prefer a more laid back look. The only thing you need to remember is that first impressions count! Along with trying your hardest to be charming, witty and hoping that your anecdotes you're sharing aren't too out there, you'll do just fine!

Aftershave, however, is a must. Your aftershave does play quite an important role during the date, everyone likes someone more if they smell nice, right? A splash of your go-to aftershave will go along way, just make sure you don't drown yourself in it! Also, don't forget that deodorant, you want to remain calm and collected, just play it cool, act yourself, you can only try your best. The main aim on a first date is to get a second date, on the second get a third, and so on and so on.

To summarise, wear what makes YOU feel good. At the end of the day, it’s all about confidence. Clothes obviously aren't the be all and end all of a date. Personality plays an even bigger part, being charismatic and showing the best of your personality is key. If you stay true to yourself, you can't go wrong. I love, and sort of live by this quote- "Charisma is the ability to influence without logic"

I'll end on that.

FLORAL PRINT

I'm off in the sun again, in a little less than three weeks! So I've been on the hunt for some classic floral print shirts. Safe to say I've found some killer ones, I came across these three shirts in Zara and I love them all! The floral print shirt in my personal opinion is a holiday essential. All three of the shirts I'm about to show come in at £25.99- a total STEAL!

This shirt looked bloody awesome online, it features in Zara's Summer campaign and is shot in black & white in their online lookbook. This shoot alone made me want to buy the shirt. I can now tell you it looks as sweet in real life! It's a long sleeve monotone shirt, a lot cooler than your classic colourful Hawaiian shirt! This shirt does feature the cliche Hawaiian hibiscus flower, but in b&w it looks WAY better! The pattern featured on the shirt is also used upon swim shorts and a jacket, so if you're a fan of the pattern, you've got a few choices in what item to rock!

This, however, is the shirt I have decided to take away with me. My solid personal favourite of the bunch. Technically this shirt isn't a floral number, but instead, is adorned with leaves (pretty close). I love this shirt as the background the red fauna is printed on isn't white, it's more of a pale blue/light grey. This compliments the red well and in my opinion, makes this shirt. I purchased all of the shirts in this post in a size small. This shirt, however, has a relaxed fit so is slightly bigger than standard. It has a flat open collar and makes for the perfect shirt for any warm summers night away.

This is the shirt I was torn between, the shirt battling for the top spot. This particular shirt just screams summer, with its burnt orange colour and brown henna like floral design. It has such a cool laid back vibe to it. This shirt is made of viscose, unfortunately, like so many high street viscose shirts, the print sadly doesn't feature on the inside, game changer. That's why it's at number 2. Don't get me wrong, I still really like this 70's inspired bowling shirt, it has a similar open collar to the one above, and would still look killer on holiday.

You can also check my YouTube video out here, it's me talking through the shirts featured on this blog in more detail. Here's the shirt I was debating on buying from River Island, what do you think? Is pink too risky, or do you think it's a go? Click here to view the river island shirt.

My first big milestone! I can't believe I'm FIFTY posts in! I decided to start my little blog back in February, during a time when everything wasn't going my way. I was getting really down about job prospects and decided to risk all, and start my blog.

What an adventure I've had so far! I've loved every second of planning and writing new, interesting posts to share with you all. Hopefully, you've enjoyed reading them too!

This blog, to me, is everything I'm passionate about. Style, fashion & travel are all so close to my heart, so contributing every day and making something I'm proud of is the best feeling ever!

I however, would find it hard to do any of this if it wasn't for people like you, taking the time to read what I have to say, or watching me on my YouTube videos. So I have to say a massive thank you to you all! Plus a big shout to the handful of brands so far that have taken a chance on me being relatively new in the blogging world.

I remember and still sometimes think about how risky this all is, sharing my opinions on style and wondering if anyone is actually interested? But every time I get a nice comment or nod in my direction, I know I'm doing the right thing. I want to make this blog a success, I'm passionate, driven and still get super excited every time I get to share one of my posts with you. I'm so grateful you all still check in to see and hear what I have to say.

In this 50th post, I thought I'd let you all get to know me a little better with fifty facts about me, so here we go. This is the list, however, if you want to see and hear the facts in a little more detail & involving A LOT more hand movements watch it across on my YouTube channel here.
